Singers Fall 2019
Daphne Barnum – Alto
Daphne was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, before attending the University of Oregon to study choral and elementary music education and mathematics. She currently teaches music at Catlin Elementary School in Kelso, Washington.
Teigh Bowen – Tenor
Teigh Bowen is a Tenor from Portland, Oregon. He met director John Eisemann in 2006 when they sang and toured together with the Grant High School Royal Blues. His accolades include 4 years of Collegiate A Cappella with The University of Oregon’s On The Rocks, an appearance on NBC’s The Sing-Off, and phenomenal dancing to the Cha Cha slide. He is honored to be singing with ‘In Medio’, as his 5th grade students are getting tired of his daily vocal improvisations.
Colin Cossi – Baritone
Colin Cossi graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education in 2016. That fall he moved to Portland, Oregon and began working as an Elementary Music Teacher for the Kelso School District in Kelso, Washington. In 2018, he accepted the role as Director of Choirs at Coweeman Middle School & Kelso High School. Additionally, he serves as a SWWMEA contest coordinator, and as the advisor to the Kelso High School Genders & Sexualities Alliance. He's sung with the Oregon Bach Festival, the Collegium Choir at the Proto Cathedral of St. James the Greater, and is thrilled to be in the inaugural season of In Medio.
Stacey Eden – Alto
Mezzo-Soprano Stacy Eden obtained a bachelor degree in musical performance for voice and bassoon from Drury University before a doctorate degree in dentistry from the University of Michigan. She has sung nationally and internationally in multiple choirs and operas, and even dabbled in rock, pop, folk, Celtic and klezmer groups. In 2016 Stacy sold her dental practice in Michigan and moved to Oregon, where she is diving into the phenomenal local music scene.
Anna Jackson – Soprano
Soprano and Portland native, Anna Jackson graduated from the University of Oregon with a BM in Vocal Performance in June of 2016. While earning her degree, she sang for three years in the international award winning UO Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul and studied with Milagro Vargas. Anna graduated with Honors in June of 2016 and was awarded as an Outstanding Performer in the area of Voice. Since graduating, she has returned to Portland where she records with Oregon Catholic Press and sings with Nexus Vocal Ensemble and In Medio.
Wyatt Jackson – Bass
Wyatt Jackson is a native Portlander, currently earning his M.M. in Vocal Performance at PSU. He previously graduated from the University of Puget Sound where he earned his B.M. in Vocal Performance. In high school Wyatt sang in choir under the direction of John Eisemann in the Grant choral program. He is happy to be back in Portland singing with Mr. Eisemann again.
Jen Milius – Soprano
Jen Milius is a Portland-based soprano with fifteen years of experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and choral singer. Her expressive, agile, and clear voice is uniquely suited for interpreting early and new music. After eight seasons with the Portland Symphonic Choir and the Oregon Symphony, she’s now singing a third season with the Big Mouth Society, and is excited to be a founding member of two new chamber choirs: In Medio and Nexus Vocal Ensemble. Jen studied with Sarah Price and Dr. Laura Lane at Knox College, and is currently refining her baroque and contemporary performance practice with Emily Lau.
Ava Price – Alto
Ava Price is originally from Portland, Oregon and attended Lake Oswego High School. She is attending Portland State University to receive her Masters in Music. She attended the University of Puget Sound and received her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance. She is a former member of the Adelphian Concert Choir and Voci d' Amici. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her friends and family, reading Wikipedia articles, and watching historical drama television shows.
Helen Rawlins – Alto
Helen Rawlins is an Assistant Case Supervisor for an Autism clinic in Beaverton, OR, and is completing her Master’s in Special Ed & Applied Behavior Analysis through Purdue University. She graduated from the University of Oregon in 2017 with dual degrees in Music and Psychology, and a minor in Special Education. While in Eugene, she sang with the award-winning UO Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul, as well as the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and Eugene Symphony Chorus. She is thrilled to be singing with so many talented singers in “In Medio.” She plans continue singing and pursue a PhD, where her research interests lie in the roles of music on social cognitive development of children with Autism. In her spare time she enjoys baking, yoga, and waffles.
Jack Strother-Blood
Jack works in Business Assurance at a public accounting firm in downtown Portland. He attended the University of Oregon for his Undergraduate and Master's degrees and has recently passed the CPA exam. While in college, he sang in the award-winning UO Chamber Choir for four years, as well as the a cappella group On The Rocks and the renaissance chamber ensemble Vox Resonat. He is excited to sing in Portland with such a talented group. In his spare time, he likes to golf, cook, and use his tall-person card to sit in emergency exit rows.
Tom Dasso – Bass
Tom Dasso is a Bass-Baritone with a Bachelor of Science in General Music from the University of Oregon. Over the course of his studies at Oregon, Tom sang with the University of Oregon Chamber Choir under Dr. Sharon Paul, where he competed with the choir in Estonia, Ireland, and Germany. Tom also sang with the university's all-male a cappella group "On The Rocks" from 2011-2014, serving as their music director for two years. Currently, Tom is a Forest Officer and wildland firefighter for the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Jessica Hall
When Jessica isn’t transforming lives in her day job at The John Maxwell Team she is most often found spending her free time doing something involved with music. Jessica attended Marylhurst University where she studied Music Therapy. Jessica’s choral singing began at the young age of six and has sung in many choirs throughout California and the Portland area. Most recently Jessica sang with Marylhurst Chamber Choir also now known as The Portland Phoenix Chamber Choir where she sang not only in Portland but also at Carnegie Hall in New York, Ireland, Sweden, Latvia, Italy and most recently London and Wales. Jessica has also performed local Gilbert and Sullivan roles at Marylhurst including Josephine in HMS Pinafore, Mabel in Pirate of Penzance, and Iolanthe in Iolanthe. Jessica is delighted to be part of The In Medio Choir and singing with such talented musicians.
Ray Jackson – Tenor
Ray Jackson, tenor, is praised for his purity of tone and musical sensitivity. He sings with Oregon Catholic Press, Nexus Vocal Ensemble, In Medio, Resonance Ensemble, and Cult of Orpheus. He has performed with Portland Summerfest, the Astoria Music Festival, Ping & Woof Opera, and the Oregon Bach Festival. He holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Oregon.
Madisen McBride – Soprano
Madisen graduated from the University of Oregon in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Since then, she has lived in France and Seattle, finally returning to Oregon about two years ago to work in marketing and business development. While living in Portland, she has sung with a variety of professional ensembles is including St Mary's Cathedral Choir and the Oregon Catholic Press Recording Choir. Madisen enjoys choral singing in addition to camping, traveling the world and spending time with her family and dog. She’s thrilled to be a part of In Medio Choir and appreciates that it recognizes the potential in recent graduates allowing them to continue doing what they love.
Carolyn Quick – Soprano
Carolyn Quick is a “versatile young soprano” (Eugene Opera) with a “pure timbre” (Opera News) and “haunting” voice. With over fourteen years of choral experience, two years of involvement in both opera and early music, and over a dozen contemporary premieres, she has performed extremely varied repertoire and now focuses on the performance and composition of contemporary music in the hopes of bringing new voices in music to life. In addition to In Medio, Carolyn is also currently a member of the Tabor Wind Ensemble and new music group Persisting Sound.
Sara Rivara – Alto
Having been described as “exceptionally impressive” and possessing a "strong and distinctive voice", Sara has appeared as a soloist with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Opera Grand Rapids, Aspire Ensemble, Camerata Singers, Kalamazoo Bach Festival Society, and has sung with the Portland Symphonic Choir and Resonance Ensemble. She is a native of Chicago, and holds a BA in English and Music from Kalamazoo College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College.
