Ian Doescher, President
Ian Doescher is a proud long-time choir nerd and Portland native. Ian is the author of the William Shakespeare's Star Wars series, the Pop Shakespeare series, and other books. He has a B.A. in Music from Yale University, a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary. Ian works at CareOregon, a nonprofit health care provider. He lives in Portland with his spouse Jennifer and two teenagers.
John Eisemann, Artistic Director
John Eisemann, In Medio’s founder and artistic director, is a Portland native and long-time choral musician. John is currently the Choir Director at Grant High School in Portland Oregon. He studied music education at Knox College, Galesburg Il., under the direction of Dr. Laura Lane, and also sang for eight seasons with the Portland Symphonic Choir. John has also studied under Dr. Rodney Eichenberger and has lead his chamber choir, the Grant Royal Blues, on multiple local and international tours.
Connor Magee, Director At-Large
Connor is a lifelong Portlander who feels tremendously proud to be joining the incredibly talented In Medio roster for a third season. After attending George Fox University where he sang with the concert and chamber choirs, Connor continued to perform with the Grotto Carolers during each year’s Festival of Lights. Currently, Connor works at Rahab's Sisters, coordinating food and supply delivery for his houseless neighbors and advocating for person-centered solutions to our housing crisis.
Jen Milius, Marketing Director
Jen is a Portland-based soprano with an expressive, agile, and clear voice uniquely suited for interpreting early and new music. She’s sung with the Portland Symphonic Choir and the Oregon Symphony, the Big Mouth Society, and is a founding member of In Medio and Nexus Vocal Ensemble. She is currently working on her performance practice with Dr. Lisa Neher, and has also coached with Angela Niederloh and Emily Lau. A collaborative graphic designer by day, Jen enjoys long walks, gardening, and riding her bike.
Helen Strother, Secretary
Helen Strother is a BCBA and Case Supervisor for an Autism clinic in Beaverton. She graduated from the University of Oregon with dual degrees in Music and Psychology, and has since obtained masters degrees in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. She has sung with In Medio since it’s inaugural cycle in 2019 and is thrilled to be back. Helen also sang with the award-winning UO Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul, as well as the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and Eugene Symphony Chorus. In her spare time she enjoys baking, yoga, and waffles.
Jack Strother, Treasurer
Jack is a CPA in Portland — he does not do taxes. He attended the University of Oregon for his undergraduate and master’s degrees. He sang in the award winning UO Chamber Choir for four years, as well the a capella group “On The Rocks” and the renaissance chamber ensemble Vox Resonat. He is excited to sing in Portland with such a talented group. In his spare time he likes to golf, cook, shop for “tall people pants” and use his “tall card” to get the best seats on airplanes.
