Current Roster (22/23)

Daphne Barnum (she/her) – Alto

Daphne is an Alto from Tokyo, Japan. She moved to the US to attend the University of Oregon where she studied music education and mathematics. During her time in Eugene, Daphne sang with and directed the a cappella group Mind the Gap, sang with the UO Chamber Choir, Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and with the chamber ensemble Vox Resonat. Since graduating, Daphne has sung with the Collegium Choir at the Proto Cathedral of St. James the Greater, performed as a soloist with the Southwest Washington Symphony, and has been with In Medio since its founding in 2019. After a few years of teaching music at Catlin Elementary in Kelso, Washington, she decided to pursue another one of her passions: food! She currently works as a cook at Obon Shokudo, a new vegan Japanese comfort food restaurant in southeast Portland.

Alex Berg (he/him) – Bass

Alex likes to sing and do other nerdy things too.

James Brown (he/him) – Tenor

Former UO Duck and Gresham native, James Brown is currently teaching elementary music in the Gresham-Barlow school district in addition to singing with In Medio. He firmly believes that excellent music teaching requires excellent musicianship. When he's not teaching or singing he is most likely enjoying a game with his partner or friends. His pre-concert montra, "Flies and ties!", encourages both himself and other tie/fly wearing performers to avoid any on-stage embarrassments... It has a 100% success rate.

Ryan Dixon (he/him) – Countertenor

Ryan Dixon, Countertenor, is thrilled to be in his first season singing with In Medio. A native of Eugene, Ryan is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Music where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education. As a high school singer, Ryan auditioned into the Oregon Bach Festival Youth Choral Academy, under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong, and sang with the choir in 2006 and 2007. Ryan is a founding member of the University of Oregon's co-ed acapella group, Mind the Gap, and also a founding member of Vox Resonat, under the direction of Eric Mentzel. As a member of the University of Oregon Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul, Ryan traveled to Tallinn, Estonia in 2011 to compete in the Tallinn International Choral Festival. The choir took top honors in two of the competition categories. Ryan has also sung with the Eugene Vocal Arts, Central Oregon Mastersingers, and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus. His most recent solo role was the tenor soloist in Benjamin Britten's Cantata Misericordium, alongside baritone Adrian Dunn, aka Mr. Hopera, based out of Chicago, Illinois. Ryan is a two-time finalist for Chanticleer, a GRAMMY Award-winning male vocal ensemble based in San Francisco, CA. When he's not singing, or at his day job, Ryan loves spending time with family and friends, golfing, hiking, and binge-watching Forensic Files.
