Daphne Barnum (she/her) – Alto

Daphne is an Alto from Tokyo, Japan. She moved to the US to attend the University of Oregon where she studied music education and mathematics. During her time in Eugene, Daphne sang with and directed the a cappella group Mind the Gap, sang with the UO Chamber Choir, Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and with the chamber ensemble Vox Resonat. Since graduating, Daphne has sung with the Collegium Choir at the Proto Cathedral of St. James the Greater, performed as a soloist with the Southwest Washington Symphony, and has been with In Medio since its founding in 2019. After a few years of teaching music at Catlin Elementary in Kelso, Washington, she decided to pursue another one of her passions: food! She currently works as a cook at Obon Shokudo, a new vegan Japanese comfort food restaurant in southeast Portland.

Alex Berg (he/him) – Bass

Alex likes to sing and do other nerdy things too.

James Brown (he/him) - Tenor

Former UO Duck and Gresham native, James Brown is currently teaching elementary music in the Gresham-Barlow school district in addition to singing with In Medio. He firmly believes that excellent music teaching requires excellent musicianship. When he's not teaching or singing he is most likely enjoying a game with his partner or friends. His pre-concert montra, "Flies and ties!", encourages both himself and other tie/fly wearing performers to avoid any on-stage embarrassments... It has a 100% success rate.

Colin Cossi (he/him) - Bass

Colin Cossi graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education in 2016. That fall he moved to Portland, Oregon and began working as an Elementary Music Teacher for the Kelso School District in Kelso, Washington. In 2018, he accepted the role as Director of Choirs at Coweeman Middle School & Kelso High School. Additionally, he serves as a SWWMEA contest coordinator, and as the advisor to the Kelso High School Genders & Sexualities Alliance. He's sung with the Oregon Bach Festival, the Collegium Choir at the Proto Cathedral of St. James the Greater, and was a part of the inaugural season of In Medio. 

Tom Dasso (he/him) – Bass

Tom Dasso is a Bass-Baritone with a Bachelor of Science in General Music from the University of Oregon. Over the course of his studies at Oregon, Tom sang with the University of Oregon Chamber Choir under Dr. Sharon Paul, where he competed with the choir in Estonia, Ireland, and Germany. Tom also sang with the university's all-male a cappella group "On The Rocks" from 2011-2014, serving as their music director for two years. Currently, Tom is a Forest Officer and wildland firefighter for the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Ethan Eismann (he/him) - Bass

Ethan Eisemann is a Bass-Baritone with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. During his time with the Fort Lewis College choir program, under Dr. Chiaravalloti, Ethan participated in two European tours including performances at Melk Abbey and the Saltzburg Cathedral in Austria. He is a current member of the Portland Symphonic Choir and performs with numerous church choirs in the Portland area.

Jessica Hall (she/her) – Soprano

Jessica is proud to be a founding member of In Medio. Jessica has been living in the Portland area for over 10 years now. She moved to Portland to study Music Therapy at Marylhurst University and was active in many of Marylhurst Choirs also known as Portland Phoenix Choirs. Prior to the Pandemic Jessica was singing in up to three choirs at a time throughout California and the Portland area. Jessica's choral singing has allowed her to sing in some amazing acoustics and places like Carnegie Hall, Ireland, Sweden, Latvia, Italy, London, and Wales. Although Jessica loves the art of singing as one in choir some of her favorite lead roles have included Josephine in HMS Pinafore and Mabel in Pirate of Penzance. In her free time Jessica enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. Jessica is excited to be singing once again with In Medio Choir and singing with such incredible musicians.

Kelly Hefty (she/her) - Alto

Kelly Hefty was born and raised in Oregon, spending most of her life in the Aloha area. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and was recognized as the 2020 Outstanding Scholar in Music Education. She has performed with numerous award-winning ensembles, including the University of Oregon Chamber Choir who placed first in the Grand Prix of Nations under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul. As an educator, she is the Choir Director and AP Coordinator at Beaverton High School. She also has experience teaching elementary music and co-conducting the Eugene Parkinson’s Choir: a therapy group that uses choral music for vocal rehabilitation. She is honored to be a new member of In Medio this season.

Wyatt Jackson (he/him) - Bass

Wyatt Jackson is a bass-baritone and he recently completed his Masters Degree in Vocal Performance at Portland State University. Wyatt is currently teaching voice lessons and preparing operatic roles. His first introduction to choir was under John Eisemann at Grant High School and he is excited to be back singing with him again.

Conor Magee (he/him) - Bass

Alexa McCuen (she/her) - Alto

Alexa is so excited to share her post-lockdown singing debut with the great folks of In Medio. Having the opportunity to sing with a group again feels like a great privilege and is healing to her soul. Alexa likes to fill her free time with long forest-y walks, roller skating, crafting, signing, and friends! Her biggest wish for this concert is that the audience will enjoy hearing In Medio sing as much as she enjoys singing with in Medio. Enjoy!

Jen Milius (she/her) - Soprano

Jen is a Portland-based soprano with fifteen years of experience as a soloist and choral singer. Her expressive, agile, and clear voice is uniquely suited for interpreting early and new music. She’s sung with the Portland Symphonic Choir and the Oregon Symphony, the Big Mouth Society, and is a founding member of In Medio and Nexus Vocal Ensemble. Jen has studied with Sarah Price and Dr. Laura Lane at Knox College, as well as with Emily Lau.

Philippe Moore (he/him) - Bass

Philippe enjoys making music with others, and has performed with several groups, including Nova Singers out of Galesburg, Illinois, the Colorado Symphony Chorus, the Portland Symphonic Choir, and now In Medio. When Philippe is not performing he is raising a toddler with his partner in a small town outside Salem, writing code for the web, and life coaching.

Jenny Moshner (she/her) - Alto

Jenny Mosher is thrilled to join In Medio and the glorious Alto section this season. Singing and creating music together is such a powerful and soul-sustaining experience, and its absence has been felt so deeply during this pandemic. Jenny is honored to be making music alongside others again, and to be able to share this experience with our audiences. Jenny has performed in choirs locally and across the country including Portland Symphonic Choir, Choral Arts Philadelphia, The University of Puget Sound’s Adelphian Concert Choir, as well as various vocal jazz and a cappella ensembles. When she’s not singing, Jenny can be found working in the field of organ donation and enjoying some of her other hobbies including knitting, bird-watching, hiking, and making ridiculous puns.

Lauren Berg Pitts (she/her) - Soprano

Lauren is a CPA - she (also) does not do taxes. Native to the Portland area, Lauren grew up in a musical household and sang / played instruments anywhere she could (school, Pacific Youth Choir, Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Young Musicians and Artists, Ovation). She attended Pacific Lutheran University where she studied accounting and music. Lauren is thrilled to be singing in In Medio with such amazing musicians, including her husband, Riley, and brother, Alex!

Riley Pitts (he/him) - Tenor

I grew up singing in a magical place called Wenatchee. Later I found my way to PLU where I sang with more great people. One of which allowed me to sing on cruise ships with him. To pay him back I married his sister. My wife and I just celebrated our first anniversary.

Ava Price (she/her) - Alto

Ava Price is excited to perform with In Medio once again! Ava attended the University of Puget Sound and received of Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance. There she performed in the Adelphian Concert Choir. She also performed in their productions of Into the Woods and Le Comte Ory. Earlier this year she was able to perform in Portland State University's production of The Old Maid and the Thief. She is currently finishing her Masters in Music and starting her post baccalaureate work in speech pathology at Portland State University.

Carolyn Quick (she/her) - Soprano

Portland-based composer-soprano Carolyn Quick (she/her) “is establishing herself as one of the most important voices in our community (Makrokosmos Project).” Carolyn’s commissions include Fear No Music, Eugene Opera, Symphony 21, and Vancouver Opera. Carolyn also co-founded Persisting Sound with Savannah Gentry to present works by historically excluded composers and create opportunities for community-wide collaboration. They have since produced two concerts, premiering several new works, and partnered with women’s arts advocacy group Siren Nation. Carolyn has performed with Eugene Opera, Portland Symphonic Choir, and the Oregon Bach Festival Vocal Fellows Program; she was also a guest soloist with the South Puget Sound Community College Choirs and Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia. Coming up, Carolyn will perform with Queer Opera and sing in The African American Requiem Choir for the premiere of An African American Requiem. Helen Rawlins (she/her) - Alto

Helen Rawlins is a BCBA and Case Supervisor for an Autism clinic in Beaverton. She graduated from the University of Oregon with dual degrees in Music and Psychology, and has since obtained masters degrees in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. She has sung with In Medio since it’s inaugural cycle in 2019 and is thrilled to be back. Helen also sang with the award-winning UO Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul, as well as the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and Eugene Symphony Chorus. In her spare time she enjoys baking, yoga, and waffles.

Elizabeth Reynaud (she/her) - Soprano

Elizabeth Reynaud graduated from the University of Oregon in June 2020 with a BS in General Music and concentration in voice, as well as a minor in Nonprofit Administration. She studied with Milagro Vargas and sang in the UO Chamber Choir under Dr. Sharon Paul, where they won the 2019 Grand Prix of Nations in the Chamber Choir/Vocal Ensembles category. Additionally, she sang with the Berwick Chorus in the Oregon Bach Festival in 2018 and 2019. Elizabeth was a recipient of the Maude and H.B. Densmore Memorial Scholarship and Summit Scholarship from 2016-2020, where she sang as a soloist with the Women's Choral Society of Eugene. She currently works in human services, and resides in Beaverton with her fiancé and their amazing cats. This is Elizabeth's first season with In Medio and she is so excited to sing with this ensemble!

Sara Quinn Rivara (she/her) - Alto

Sara has appeared as a soloist with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Bach Festival Society, St. Cecelia Music Society, Opera Grand Rapids, Aspire Ensemble, and Camerata Singers. In Portland, she has sung five seasons with the Portland Symphonic Choir, and as with the Resonance Ensemble. She is a member and Producer of the Light Opera of Portland, and has sung with In Medio since its founding. A native of Chicago, she holds a BA in English from Kalamazoo College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College.

Jonathan Schildt (he/him) - Tenor

Jon Schildt started singing in fourth grade in a boys choir led by Kathi Dooley, the beloved Quincy, Illinois music teacher featured on Queer Eye. He has been singing in choirs ever since, including ensembles at the University of Illinois and University of York, England; the Apollo Chorus of Chicago; the Wicker Park Choral Singers; and the Portland Symphonic Choir. Jon, an appellate attorney by day, is thrilled to be singing with In Medio.

Marjorie Sheiman (she/her) - Soprano

Marjorie Sheiman graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance, Summa Cum Laude, in June 2020, during which she studied with Milagro Vargas. Some highlights from her time there include singing under Dr. Sharon Paul in the UO Chamber Choir, during which they won the 2019 Grand Prix of Nations in the Chamber Choir/Vocal Ensembles category, and being a soloist for the Women’s Choral Society of Eugene, as well as singing in the Oregon Bach Festival’s Berwick Chorus. She’s honored to be the NATS Northwest Region’s 2021 Champion in the Advanced Treble Independent Studio division. This past summer, she sang in Die Zauberflöte and Rusalka in the LAH-SOW Opera Workshop and coached under Luke Housner. She’s currently studying with Ruth Dobson as she prepares to apply to graduate school. This is Marjorie’s first season singing with In Medio and she’s enjoying it immensely!

Jack Strother-Blood (he/him) - Tenor

Jack is a CPA in Portland — he does not do taxes. He attended the University of Oregon for his undergraduate and master’s degrees. He sang in the award winning UO Chamber Choir for four years, as well the a capella group “On The Rocks” and the renaissance chamber ensemble Vox Resonat. He is excited to sing in Portland with such a talented group. In his spare time he likes to golf, cook, shop for “tall people pants” and use his “tall card” to get the best seats on airplanes.

Drew Swatosh (they/them) - Tenor

Drew Swatosh (they/them) is a Vancouver, Washington-based composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. Inspired by their background in arts-integrated education, they write eclectic, programmatic music and use composing as a means of processing the world around them. Drew’s commissions include a trans/non-binary retelling of the myth of Icarus and Daedalus for the Seattle Opera Creation Lab; choral educator Stephanie Bivins; the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics Music Department; and vocalists Stephanie Lamprea, Marguerite McKean, and Carolyn Quick as part of the Dead Fires Anthology for Solo Unaccompanied/Self-Accompanied Voice. As a vocalist, they have sung in the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium American Creators Chorus under Conspirare Artistic Director Craig Hella Johnson. In collaboration with Persisting Sound, they made their professional debut with Portland artists Lisa Neher and Carolyn Quick. They are currently in In Medio and Cascadia Composers. Miles Thoming-Gale (he/him) - Tenor

Miles Thoming-Gale is an elementary music teacher and native Portland human. He sang with the UO Chamber Choir during their 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons and performed at the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany. Since graduating University of Oregon in 2016 Miles has been teaching elementary music and loving it. He is very excited to be performing with In Medio this season and looks forward to sharing this powerful program with an audience!

Tim Tyler (he/him) - Bass

Tim Tyler is a bass-baritone originally from Chicago. While working on a materials science degree at the University of Illinois, he sang and toured with the Varsity Men’s Glee Club, and he was a member of the acclaimed a cappella octet The Other Guys. Tim then sang with the Wicker Park Choral Singers while completing his Ph.D. at Northwestern University. After his career brought him to Portland, Tim was a member of the Portland Symphonic Choir for three seasons before joining In Medio. When he’s not making music, Tim can be found hiking, baking, and working on the next generation of Intel’s microprocessors.
