Season 5
-
Passage: Nov 1 & 2
Our fifth season begins with Passage, a concert around the theme of death and transcendence. Throughout the concert, In Medio will explore the myriad ways humanity responds to the end of life and grapple with the ineffable question of what comes next.
The centerpiece of the concert is a twenty-minute composition, Triptych, by Irish composer Tarik O’Regan, in which we will partner with a nine-person string orchestra, and has not been performed in Oregon since 2014. Other highlights of the program include When David Heard by Eric Whitacre and Amihan by Filipino composer Ily Matthew Maniano.
We hope you'll join us for an evening of inspiration and solace as we explore life's greatest mystery.

At The Holidays: Dec. 19&20
In Medio’s annual holiday concert is a favorite among our audiences. Traditional carols are heard alongside modern choral settings. This season, the concert will feature a world premiere by In Medio’s own Carolyn Quick.

Sing, My Child: Mar. 18
In Medio’s fifth annual High School Choir Invitational features five choirs from high schools around the Portland Metro area alongside In Medio singers.
Sing, My Child has been awarded funding by the Regional Arts and Culture Council for two years in a row, and Daryl Brown of Oregon ArtsWatch wrote: “It offers some schools the opportunity to hone their repertoire in a special way — by singing with and for other student musicians and alongside the In Medio singers, some of whom are their own school choir directors… It’s an excellent festival model.”
Five $500 college scholarships — one for a senior from each of the five participating schools — will be awarded at the concert, along with an award of ten voice lessons for a sophomore or junior student.

Tabula Rasa: June 5 & 7
In Medio’s fifth season concludes with a concert exclusively featuring the music of Canadian composer Don Macdonald. In addition to showcasing Don's extensive contributions to the modern choral cannon, In Medio is commissioning him for a world premiere to mark the event. After the concert cycle, In Medio will record its first album, a compilation of Macdonald’s works.
